Sint Vincentius had a celebration of their patron saint scheduled on 27/09/2020. Due to the coronavirus, the nursing home residents and flat residents could not celebrate this edition together. Sint Vincentius decided to look for a solution that would provide residents with a successful yet safe celebration.
The nursing home contacted Oscart Group, formerly Tele-Signal Electronics (Tele-Signal merged with sister company Oscart on 01/09/2020 and now offers solutions for software and hardware under the same roof within Oscart Group). Oscart Group, who had been providing televisions and digital signage solutions to the GVO group for years, went in search of a corona-proof solution for the nursing home.
Live stream information channel
In order to allow every resident to enjoy the festivities, Oscart Group has installed a live stream information channel for all televisions via IPTV. A Blu-ray player, camera and server (to manage settings centrally) were also provided.
Despite an approaching deadline and some technical challenges, Oscart Group technicians ensured a perfectly finished assembly. Thanks to the installation, the nursing home was able to record the eucharist celebration with the camera and broadcast it directly on the information channel. Afterwards a singer came to perform and the residents were able to enjoy in the same way from their room or from the common area of the nursing home.
In addition, Eveline Breye, director of Sint Vincentius, gave a live speech via the information channel. The nursing home and Oscart Group therefore succeeded in offering the residents a pleasant day during these times of isolation.
A one-off investment, 1,001 applications
An information channel and digital signage can offer strong added value during the corona crisis, thus Sint Vincentius. The live stream information channel ensured a successful celebration and will continue to be a highlight for residents. For example, the nursing home was recently able to participate in a yoga session broadcast via the information channel, and in addition to live events, residents can watch movies via Blu-ray.
The central management server, in turn, ensures that staff do not need to visit every room to enable broadcast. Information and news can be easily shared with the residents thanks to the Oscart cloud platform. The nursing home also has future plans with the information channel, such as setting up its own radio station with request numbers and broadcasting Christmas / New Year wishes. In short, in these uncertain times, clear information and the necessary entertainment are essential and a tailor-made audio-visual solution can play an important role.
